Developers Notes on Sign Up Forms
Posted on Monday, March 25th, 2013.
To allow subscribers to subscribe/unsubscribe to a mailing list(s) we have “Signup Forms” which manage the confirmed-opt in subscription process, the change preferences process and un-subscription process. The signup form can be custom designed to have any formatting required.
Additionally there is external signup form HTML that is generated that can be added to any web site to avoid using our signup form hosted pages. The signup form can be configured to redirect the subscriber to another page for the processes related to subscription, change preferences and un-subscription – thus all end point web pages can be on another website.
If you want to completely by-pass our signup forms then you can create a script that handles these processes and communicate via API.
The un-subscription process is two stage – whereby the subscriber clicks on the unsubscribe link within an email and is taken to the unsubscription page. There the subscriber confirms the unsubscription by clicking a button and add in comments, changing mailing list preferences etc…
We do have an instant unsubscribe link which is used within the email header but can be used in links within emails. If the subscriber clicks that link they are instantly unsubscribed with having to confirm. There is a generic confirm web page but a direct can be setup to direct to another website.
